Job Description:
Key responsibilities
1. Coordinate and manage the freelance writing and editorial components of all projects.
2. Establish, maintain and monitor compliance with editorial policy and editorial standards of excellence for all writing & editorial output.
3. Assist in developing proposal and pitch presentations with the new business development team where necessary.
4. Provide internal time-based costs and, where necessary, 3rd party cost estimates for writing and editorial work.
5. Manage work-flow processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of staff time and freelancer resources and ensure complicance with editorial policies thus ensuring:
     a. All writing briefs are written and use the agreed writers briefing document
     b. Quality control standards are applied to all writing & editorial outputs eg version control, use of house-style etc
     c. Projects are delivered in line with time requirements.
     d. To monitor & manage actual writing & editing man-hours against project budget estimates to ensure that jobs are completed within 
         the agreed estimates/budget
6. Monitor editorial process and performance standards in line with editorial policy and pro-actively identify areas for improvement.
7. Establish necessary systems, processes, information management resources required to ensure the writing and editorial services provide the best possible service levels.
 

Required Qualifications/Skills:

Knowledge & Experience
• Writing and/or editorial experience, minimum 5 years
• Life-science academic qualifications (eg minimum 1st degree, ideally PhD/M.Sc)
• Knowledge and experience of medical information systems (on-line databases, journals, publications) and journal information management
• Broad experience/familiarity across a number of therapeutic areas of healthcare
• Experience of the publishing process
• Experience of working across a range of media channels ie print, digital is an advantage
