Job Description:
This key role leads the relationship with our unionized organizations. Partnering closely with HRMs, the Labor Relations Manager consults with the business and manages the development of positive union or employee relations, contract language, employee advocacy, practices and operating mechanisms to drive productive and engaged hourly and non-exempt employees.

  • Providing overall union or employee relations leadership and expertise for unionized site
  • Participating in union relations decisions with the site leadership team or participating in employee relations decisions with the site leadership team
  • Partnering with client leadership to plan and execute union relations or employee relations strategies that ensure maximum engagement of human resource capital
  • Advocating for employee concerns and perspectives
  • Lead and operate Labor-Management Council
  • Lead key initiatives to control and manage labor hours
  • Serve as central point for Labor Standards Supervision Office
  • Oversees Medical groups for Japan office to provide Health Services Programs for employees as well as other General Administrative functions such as company reception, cafeteria, etc.
  • Also in charge of managing company housing policy
  • Support C&B Manager to develop and implement Japan C&B policies and processes appropriate for us ensuring that they meet local business needs
  • Co-work with C&B Manager to ensure employee salary increases, awards, and allowances are processed on time and to the highest standards of accuracy
  • Lead hiring initiatives for disabled
  • Serve as a member of Health and Safety Committee for Japan office

Required Qualifications/Skills:
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of increasingly responsible HR generalist /leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, evaluate people, manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment and effectively interface with high level marketing, technology and operations leaders
  • Outstanding communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to energize and inspire
  • An impact player with proven ability to drive change in an effective and participative manner
  • Resourceful, innovative, persuasive
  • Strong analytical skills

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Japan Labor Unions
  • 3 of more years of experience as a Plant HRM or other HR position with a non-exempt or hourly client population
  • Advanced Degree such as a Masters Degree in Labor Relations or MBA
